Over your shin pads you wear really big socks. Some players will wrap the socks with tape to hold the pads more securely.

You’ll need something to hold up your stockings. It's a matter of personal choice. The newer combination shorts with velcro are very convenient while a traditionalist might opt for a garter belt.
